Anna Rohrer

Decorated Distance Runner and
Dedicated Student
Born in Mishawaka to Katie and Wendell Rohrer. Anna is a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 2015. However, she began gaining national recognition for her athletic talents years prior.

Anna began competing in track and cross country long distance running events her freshman year of High School. Her sophomore year she took home many awards and setting new records. She set the state record becoming the Indiana Cross-Country State Champion with a time of 17:13. Then set a course record of 16:54 becoming the Footlocker Midwest Cross-Country Champion and went on to become the Footlocker National Champion in San Diego, CA. The first female Indiana cross-country runner to win this historic event.

Her junior year, despite injuries, Anna was named NIC track MVP and set a new state record time of 10:14.4 winning the Indiana 3200m State Championship.

Anna’s senior year was packed full of athletic accomplishment. She lowered her own state record for the Indiana State Cross-Country Championship to 17:08  as well as setting state records for the Indiana 3200m State Championship (beating her own state record of the previous year). She also set the national record at the New Balance Indoor National 5000m Championship of 16:10.7 at the NY Armory. She was named National Coaches Association Cross-Country Athlete of the Year, Gatorade National Girls’ Cross-Country Runner of the Year and IHSAA Mental Attitude Award winner for cross country. The summer after graduation she won the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle and became the first Indiana female high school runner to ever break 10:00 min for 2 miles with time
of 9:59.9.

At the same time Anna was blowing past the competition on the run, she was also accomplishing great things in her school and personal life. Anna was part of the National Honor Society, marching band, jazz band, concert band, school newspaper, church youth group and D.A.R.E. She received a gold rating at the Indiana State School Music Association Division I competition for flute solo. Anna was active in the City of Mishawaka Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, the City of South Bend Youth Leadership Council. She received the VFW Citizenship Award and was named class salutatorian.

Anna has accumulated 6 State Championships, 5 National Championships, 3 State Records, 1 National Record, been named National Cross Country Athlete of the year 2014-2015 and competed for Team USA internationally.

Currently a student at Notre Dame University with a full ride athletic scholarship. She had a spectacular freshman year earning All-American honors in cross-country and indoor track. Anna is competing again around the country as a sophomore this school year. She hopes to compete internationally in the future.

Setting the same high bar for academic achievement that she set for herself in high school, Anna is dedicated to her college classes. She is a Pre-Professional Studies major with interests in neuropsychology and sports medicine. In 2015-2016, she was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

In October of 2016, Anna was honored for her athletic achievements by being named an official torch bearer when the Indiana Bicentennial Torch made its voyage through St. Joseph County.
